My main take-away from our tele classes was something I have long known that was a prerequisite for being the leader of this type of processes: my own presence. And here we are not talking about presence in the sense of turning off the phone and remembering to have eye contact - no, we were talking about the real, heartfelt and genuine presence... the presence that is so intimate and inviting, that when we encounter it, check in on it, it connects us with it. - Michael Skjøt, Skjøt The purpose of the workshop: ![]() The purpose of the workshop is to introduce "Meeting Art" in Europe, with Denmark as the first country. We invite you to this new workshop for professionals, based on a 9-step process - the Convening Wheel - as described and elaborated with cases, attention issues, and challenges. The Art of Convening is a learning system that supports and amplifies your toolkit of facilitative and/or coaching expertise to generate the best possible outcome for your meetings or conversations. In this workshop you will:
- Learn how apply the practical knowledge of the Convening Wheel (see english diagram below right) in your life and practice in either in-person or virtual situations.
- Utilize many learning methods, and large and small group experiential processes,
including exploration of your current work experiences;
- Learn how to maximize the collective wisdom of the group;
- Create safe and productive meeting spaces through agreements and venue design.
My biggest learning at our meeting of art course, and what has made a big difference for me, both professionally and privately, is the concept of "stringing the beads." How important it is to check in, get there, take a round, listening to all and reflecting together. This succeeded every time in our Meeting Art-tele seminar with Craig, although we were physically in different places in the world. We had important conversations, where the focus was curiosity, understanding and openness in relation to each other and the community, rather than just talking and trying to be right. "Stringing the beads" is a wonderful prerequisite for genuine and authentic encounters between people regardless of whether the meeting is private, with family, or in a professional setting. - Charlotte Christensen, CC-LOTUS

Would your Danish colleagues like to know about this workshop? I have long been focusing on how to have a great time by holding meetings in all organizations. Through participation in the Art of Convening teleconference with Craig, I found the missing link to the substantial improvement of meetings and conversations: the authentic presence. Since then, meeting art has had a great influence on my implementation of coaching, teaching and meetings. I have increased my active consciousness to tie wire between the participants (stringing all the beads) as a prerequisite for creating real community and committed support. - Magne Uldall-Jessen, Mukon The process of The Art of Convening provided me with the opportunity to immerse myself in all the 9 aspects of the Meeting wheel / Convening Wheel and thereby gave me the opportunity for development in relation to the way I organize or participate in meetings. A particular point of significance was recognizing the incredible value of "hearing all voices" and giving my attention to really listen to everyone. As a result of this training, I have also realized the importance the invitation for a meeting has - a good invitation helps the meeting get a good start, and thereby you have a better chance for a great meeting. - Annelise Stahlschmidt, Kommune Coaching
Praise for The Art of Convening book:
Few people have refined the process of bringing people together as gracefully and elegantly as Craig and Patricia Neal. - Peter Block, author of Community: The Structure of Belonging In this wise and thoughtful book, Craig and Patricia Neal help us understand what's needed to create the kind of authentic 'meeting' where true collective wisdom can emerge in group settings." - Juanita Brown and David Isaacs, Co-Originators, The World Café
Seldom have I encountered such depth of wisdom and clarity of process presented with such a gentle, inviting spirit. - Margaret J. Wheatley, author of Leadership and the New Science and Walk Out Walk On Craig and Patricia Neal have spent years helping people turn ‘meetings’ of the sort we complain about into the live and engaging encounters that real living requires. - Parker J. Palmer, author of A Hidden Wholeness
