Otto is an action researcher who creates innovations in learning and leadership that he delivers through classes and programs at MIT, the Global Classroom online programs, Presencing Institute programs, and through innovation and change projects within and among organizations and communities.

*Presence is co-authored with Peter Senge, Joe Jaworski and Betty Sue Flowers. The Presencing Institute is a global action research community that applies Theory U and presencing to the transformation of capitalism by shifting the social field of individual and collective action from habitual patterns to co-creating from the emerging whole. The presencing process is a journey that connects us more deeply both to what wants to emerge in the world and to our highest future possibility—our emerging authentic self.

Using his experience working with some of the world's most accomplished leaders and innovators, Otto has shown in Theory U how groups and organizations can develop seven leadership capacities in order to create a future that would not otherwise be possible.

The “U” process, first introduced in his previous work Presence, is expanded, deepened, and offered in comprehensive detail. The shift in awareness he documents allows us to connect to our best future possibility and realize it.
